We caught up with Tenmat’s Logistics and Stock Coordinator Claudia Pereira to learn about what her role entails, what a typical day looks like, and what she gets up to when not working!

Could you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

I’m from Portugal and have lived in the UK for nearly five years. I started working at Tenmat in April of last year, having previously worked here for a year and a half. This brings my total time with the company to two years and three months. After starting as a packer, I am now a Logistics and Stock Coordinator. I find this industry fascinating because it’s crucial for our daily safety. With a degree in Clinical Psychology, I bring a unique perspective to my work and life. I have a bright personality and always keep a smile on my face.

What does your job involve?

I have the full knowledge to perform all the tasks in my department, including goods in, stock control, packing, and shipping, which is very helpful when assistance is needed. My primary focus is on stock control and goods in. My job involves organising and managing stock for production (raw materials) and for the customer (finished goods), overseeing the process from when items arrive in the building until they are packed and ready for delivery. My main goal is to enhance efficiency for everyone involved. Additionally, I investigate any challenges related to stock to prevent potential issues.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The responsibilities and challenges of my role are ever-changing. Each day is different, and with responsibility comes the need to overcome obstacles. If the stock is not organised and managed properly, it becomes difficult to fulfil customer orders. When stock is well-managed, everything runs efficiently. I also enjoy the investigations I conduct daily; they keep my mind engaged and active.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually start my day by checking emails and sorting through any requests. Throughout the day, I help with booking deliveries and resolving any issues that may arise. I also investigate any discrepancies we might have with our stock. In addition, I help my and other departments with their various questions as needed. I attend meetings as scheduled, and every Thursday I conduct a count of locations to ensure that key items are in order and that there are no problems with stock. Occasionally, I perform a comprehensive count of all locations to ensure everything is organised. If necessary, I also help with other tasks in my department, such as packing and shipping. At the end of the day, I verify that all deliveries have been booked and check all the receipts to ensure everything is accurate.

What makes Tenmat a good company to work for?

The people at work make each day easier. I have a fantastic team that supports one another while still having fun. We always find ways to uplift each other and share laughter. I also appreciate the challenges we face and the engagement with other departments.

And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?

I absolutely love travelling, especially when it involves the sea, sunshine, and stunning views. It’s my ultimate form of healing! Music fills my days, and I can’t resist singing along and dancing whenever I can. I really appreciate the time I spend with my partner and family, they bring so much joy to my life. But I also enjoy some good solo time! There is nothing quite like doing jigsaw puzzles or getting creative with drawing and painting. Plus, I like to stay active and healthy, and Pilates is one of my favorite ways to workout. Life is all about balance and enjoying the little things!
