Sustainability and its part in the future of housebuilding is a key topic within the industry. Barratt Developments, who are the UK’s largest housebuilder, is leading the way by building a new flagship concept zero carbon home. This new home is called the Z house and it has allowed over 40 leading industry partners from across the housebuilding, sustainability and technology sectors to come together to provide the technology to meet the demands of a lived -in and fully monitored home.
This is the first time a major housebuilder has built a new home in the country which will go beyond the new Future Homes Standard by aiming to deliver a carbon reduction of 125%. Last year Barratt announced that all their new homes will be zero carbon by 2030 and this flagship concept house is the first step in achieving that.
For this project Tenmat is delighted to be providing their FF102/50 product to meet the passive fire protection demands. The FF102/50 is made out of an intumescent material which will expand within a fire event to prevent fire from spreading for long enough for occupants to get to safety and for the fire to be controlled.
